Yin yoga and Chinese medicine - Fire Element with Alison and Roslyn
SUMMER (HEART AND SMALL INTESTINE MERIDIANS)
Nourish and balance the Heart and Small Intestine meridians and tune into the Summer season.
In a series of five workshops Yin yoga teacher, Alison Melvin and acupuncturist, Roslyn Go will deepen your understanding of Yin yoga and how it relates to Chinese medicine and the meridian system. Looking at each of the five elements in turn, we will practice with the relevant Yin-Yang meridians and work with nourishing the emotions connected with the corresponding organs.
Central to Daoist philosophy are the concepts of Yin-Yang (the Dao) and the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water). The Dao is the intrinsic balance of everything. It is the tranquility found in the middle of all events, and the path leading to the centre. It gives usa perspective that helps us to find balance among these changing elements which make up every aspect of nature and as human beings, we are an integral part of it. According to Chinese Medicine, the Fire element is most dominant during Summer and the Heart (yin) and Small Intestine (yang) meridians in the upper body.
In this Yin workshop we have chosen poses to target the upper body in order to shift stagnant energy or Qi, through our system. The effect of this is to balance these summer meridians and the Fire Element, so that we stay cool and bring about greater equanimity of body, heart and mind. We can temper our more fiery emotions of hate, hostility and blame into the more equanimous emotions of open-heartedness, joy and love.
The workshop will end with Roslyn giving a mini-acupuncture session during Savasana to balance and experience the flow of Qi. Alison and Roslyn are excited share their passion and knowledge with you in these unique Yin yoga and TCM workshops. All workshops are open to everyone with an interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine and/or Yin yoga. No previous yoga experience is required. Yin Yoga respects the individual, their body and physical and mental condition, and is suitable for people of all ages.
